Was für ein imposantes Stück Steiff-Geschichte !!!
Das ist mit seinen 80cm ein wahrhaft gigantischer Steiff Schimpanse, praktisch in Lebensgrösse!
Er sitzt übrigens nicht auf einem Kinderstuhl sondern auf einem normalgrossen Gartenstuhl!
Um die Grösse zu dokumentieren, habe ich ihm ein 5-Franken Stück in die Hand gelegt; schauen Sie mal auf den Fotos ob Sie es finden...!
Der Schimpanse ist aus wunderbar dichtem, langhaarigen, dunkelbraunem Moahair gefertigt und fest mit Holzwolle gestopft. Kopf, Arme und Beine sind mit Scheibengelenken versehen und beweglich. Das Gesicht, die Hände und Füsse sind aus Filz. Die grossen Augen sind aus dunkelbraun hintermaltem Glas und er besitzt noch einen alten Steiff-Knopf in BLOCKbuchstaben mit einer gelben Fahne auf der man noch die Bezeichnung Steiff Original sowie die Nummer 5380 und Made in Germany erkennen kann. Somit wurde er in der Zeit um 1947 hergestellt und es handelt sich dabei um die grösste Version des Jocko Schimpansen.
Jocko befindet sich in unglaublich schönem Zustand, es ist wirklich keinerlei Mohairverlust festzustellen. Einzig an den Filzteilen der Füsse und am Daumen der einen Hand sind Defekte die von dem sehr hohen Alter des Affen zeugen. Ich habe versucht es auf den Fotos zu dokumentieren. Mit etwas Geschick oder von einer Fachperson ist es bestimmt zu reparieren. Ich jedoch empfand es nie als störend, wenn er sitzt sieht man es nicht und schliesslich ist es ja auch ein sehr, sehr altes Spielzeug von denen bestimmt nicht viele bis zum heutigen Tage überlebt haben. Vor allem in diesem Zustand und in dieser Grösse ist er ein seltenes und gesuchtes Sammlerstück.

With it's 80cm(31.49") this is a truly gigantic Steiff chimp, almost life-size!
He does not sit on a child's chair but in a normal garden chair!
In order to document the size, I gave it a 5-franc piece into the hand, have a look at the photos if you find it ...!
The chimpanzee is made of wonderfully thick, longhaired, dark brown Moahair and firmly stuffed with wood wool. Head, arms and legs are equipped with disc joints, and flexible. The face, hands and feet are made of felt. The big expressive eyes are made of dark brown backpainted glass and he still has the old Steiff button in BLOCK letters with a yellow flag. That is the name "Steiff original" and also the number 5380 and "Made in Germany" to recognize.
He was produced in the period around 1947 and it is the largest version of the Jocko chimpanzee.
Jocko is in incredibly good condition, there really is no mohair loss noted. Only at the felt of the feet and on the thumb of one hand are damages. I tried it on the photos to document. With a bit of skill or from a professional, it is determined to repair it. I was never disturbed because if he sits, you can not see his injuries and finally, it is indeed a very, very old toy from which many will not until today have survived. Especially in this condition and in this size, it is a rare and sought after collectible.
